Last year, we recorded 139 media rights violations at the Afghanistan Journalists Center

In the past year, the Afghan Journalists Center recorded 139 violations of media rights.

The Afghan Journalists Center stated in messages on the occasion of National Journalists Day that while there has been a noticeable decrease in media rights violations and journalist incidents in 1402 compared to 1401 SH, dozens of media violations were still recorded this year.

The center’s annual report stated that in the past 12 months, there were no targeted attacks on journalists in Afghanistan, and no incidents of journalists being killed or injured were reported, which the center considers a positive and hopeful development.

The center explained that in 1402 SH, it documented at least 139 violations of media rights and journalists, including 80 threats and 59 arrests of journalists, showing a significant improvement and decrease compared to 1401 SH, which had 237 violations, including one killed, 21 injured, 8 cases of physical violence, and 113 threats and 94 arrests.
