Agency Report: Iran Installs More Centrifuges at Fordow Enrichment Plant

Report: Iran is installing more centrifuges at the Fordow enrichment plant

Reuters reported on Thursday, June 14, citing a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency, that Iran has quickly installed additional centrifuges at the Fordow facility in response to a resolution by the Board of Governors.

Earlier, the same news agency, quoting diplomats, reported that Tehran had expanded its uranium enrichment capacity at its two underground sites in reaction to this resolution.

In the agency’s report, which Reuters has seen, it is stated that on June 9 and 10, Iran informed the agency that eight cascades containing 174 IR-6 centrifuges would be installed in unit 1 of the Fordow enrichment facilities within the next three to four weeks.

The confidential report from the International Atomic Energy Agency was sent to member countries of this body on Thursday.

According to the agency’s report, by June 12, Iran had completed two new cascades of IR-6 centrifuges.
