Aghamiri, a Member of Tehran City Council, Says No One Should Prevent the Construction of a Mosque in the Park

Aghamiri, a member of Tehran’s City Council, says no one should prevent the construction of a mosque in the park.

The head of the Urban Development Committee of the Islamic City Council of Tehran stated that we should not hinder a good deed like building the House of God, and said that anyone who even utters a word to obstruct this charitable action will face its consequences in this world and the hereafter.

According to the City website, Seyed Mohammad Aghamiri, in the 224th session of the Tehran City Council, noted that the topic of building a mosque in Qeytarieh Park was raised on social networks, which was accompanied by a lot of controversies but was not significant. He stated that since the beginning of the sixth period of urban management, we intended for parks to be suitable spaces for citizens. The construction of mosques in parks has been approved by the council since 2004, and 43 mosques have been built in parks, including Lavizan, Nahj al-Balagha, and Police parks.

He noted that aerial images of Qeytarieh Park show that the nearest mosque is 450 meters away from this park and emphasized that if we want to walk to the first mosque, the distance is 600 meters. When houses were built as villas, a mosque was constructed every 200 meters.

The head of the Urban Development Committee of the Islamic City Council of Tehran stated that there have been misconceptions that trees were cut down, and said that the mayor and council members visited the site and only trees with small trunks and saplings were relocated, and no trees were cut down.
