Airstrikes Continue Despite Ceasefire in Khartoum

Airstrikes continue in Khartoum despite the ceasefire

Despite the ceasefire intended for the evacuation of civilians from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, the city is still being targeted by airstrikes.

The army states it has attacked the city to eliminate its paramilitary rivals, the Rapid Support Forces, even though the warring parties have claimed they will extend the ceasefire for another three days, the conflict has intensified.

More than 500 deaths have been reported, but it is believed that the actual number of casualties is much higher.

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the army commander, and General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemeti, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, are competing for power. They especially disagree over plans to integrate the Rapid Support Forces into the army.
