Al Arabiya claims Iran has accepted the transfer of part of its enriched uranium to a third country
The Al Arabiya network, citing informed sources, claimed that Iran has informed Pakistan that it has agreed to transfer part of its enriched uranium reserves to a mutually agreed third country.
According to this report, Tehran’s new proposal, which has been conveyed to the United States through Pakistani intermediaries, includes transferring part of the uranium reserves out of Iran and limiting the enrichment level as part of a broader agreement. Al Arabiya had previously reported, citing its sources, that Iran was considering transferring part of the enriched uranium to Russia or a third country within the framework of a potential agreement.
This claim is made while the fate of Iran’s enriched uranium reserves remains one of the main points of contention in the Tehran-Washington negotiations. Reuters had previously reported that some Iranian sources had spoken of the possibility of transferring part of these reserves, but officials of the Islamic Republic have repeatedly publicly opposed the removal of enriched uranium from the country.
So far, Iranian officials have not reacted to Al Arabiya’s new report, and no independent confirmation of this claim has been published. Reuters also recently reported, citing a senior Iranian source, that Tehran has not yet agreed to hand over its enriched uranium reserves.
