Ali Larijani Appointed Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council

Ali Larijani became the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council

Iranian media reported on Tuesday, August 5, that Ali Larijani, the senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, has been appointed as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council by the decree of Masoud Pezeshkian.

Earlier, Fars News Agency, confirming speculations about this appointment, wrote that Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the former Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, will likely take on the responsibility for several special and strategic dossiers of the country.

This change occurs while the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council had announced the establishment of a new entity called the National Defense Council at the beginning of the week.

According to this entity, the Defense Council is set to centrally review defense plans and the enhancement of the capabilities of the armed forces.
