Ali Motahari: From the very beginning, we intended to build a bomb

A video of Ali Motahari, the former deputy speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, has been reposted on social networks in which he says that the goal of the entire Islamic Republic’s nuclear activity was to build a bomb from the very beginning.

Motahari, in this interview dating back to May 2022, said we had started and we wanted to do this.

If we could have maintained this and tested the bomb, it would have been over.

Like Pakistan, once we started, we should have gone all the way.

These statements have been made while the officials of the Islamic Republic have repeatedly claimed, citing the Supreme Leader’s fatwa, that building nuclear weapons is forbidden.
