Ali Motahari: We shouldn’t be more Catholic than the Pope

Ali Motahari wrote on his Instagram page criticizing the way negotiations with the U.S. are conducted

Our method of negotiating with the U.S. has become a laughingstock both privately and publicly. Instead of negotiating directly and finishing the matter in a few sessions, we give our response to the European Union, the Union gives it to the U.S., the U.S. gives its response to the Union, and the Union gives it to Iran. All this happens just for the sake of a revolutionary pose that we want to humiliate the U.S., while our nation is being humiliated under economic pressures. We shouldn’t be more Catholic than the Pope. The Prophet Muhammad negotiated with Abu Sufyan, the greatest enemy of Islam, before the conquest of Mecca and preserved the people’s lives and property.
