Ali Motahari reacts to Yalda Moayeri’s sentence: Motahari studies are not a punishment
Ali Motahari, a representative of Tehran in the tenth parliament, has written a letter to Mohseni Ejei in response to the sentence of Yalda Moayeri, a news photographer.
Dear Hojatoleslam Mr. Ejei, May your blessings be lasting. Respectable head of the judiciary, with greetings and best wishes for your success. It was reported in the news that Ms. Yalda Moayeri, a news photographer, has been sentenced in the preliminary court, among other things, to write a hundred-page research on the works of the martyred scholar Ayatollah Motahari. Of course, the attention to the works of this esteemed Islamic scholar, especially when the cultural institutions of the system, like the national broadcaster, despite repeated and emphatic recommendations from Imam Khomeini and the Supreme Leader, do not pay attention to these works, is commendable. However, using it as a punishment and a compulsory task can have negative effects both on the convicted person and on society because referring to these works should be out of choice and selection. I request that measures be taken to have this sentence annulled in the appeals court. I am grateful in advance for your kind attention.
