Aliyev in Meeting with Erdogan: War Helped Resolve the Historical Karabakh Issue

Aliyev in a meeting with Erdogan said that the war helped resolve the historical issue of Karabakh.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, told the leader of Azerbaijan on Monday that he wants Baku to prevent the escalation of border tensions with Armenia in the future and to pursue lasting peace.

Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, arrived in Ankara after rare talks with Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, hosted by the German Chancellor.

Last week’s deadly clashes along the Azerbaijan-Armenia border, which according to Yerevan resulted in the death of four Armenian soldiers, raised fears of reigniting conflicts.

The German Chancellor said that Aliyev and Pashinyan agreed to strive for peace and avoid resorting to force.
