This informal one-day trip was arranged by the UAE and Egypt. More than ten Security Council ambassadors, including representatives from Russia and the UK, are participating in this visit, but the ambassadors from the US and France are not among them.

On Friday, the US vetoed the Security Council resolution for an immediate ceasefire.

According to Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE ambassador to the Security Council, the representatives are participating in this visit in their national and personal capacities.

The UN General Assembly will hold an emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss a ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the French news agency, they have seen the draft of the proposed resolution, and its text is very close to the one that was vetoed on Friday.
