Amir-Abdollahian: We Acknowledge That Ensuring the Security of Foreign Missions is Our Responsibility

Amir-Abdollahian: We accept that ensuring the security of foreign missions is our responsibility

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, referring to the attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran last February, says that although this incident had many ambiguities and was a personal revenge, we accept that the responsibility for ensuring the security of missions and diplomatic sites lies with the host country.

He added that all countries are responsible for protecting diplomatic sites and individuals, but in today’s world, such incidents are not unusual and do not necessarily lead to the closure of a country’s embassy.

Recently, on July 28th, Iran released a female citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan who was accused of espionage and handed her over to Baku, an action that might be an attempt to improve relations with this northwestern neighbor.
