Amir Raisian, Lawyer, Appeal of Toumaj Salehi's One-Year Prison Sentence Rejected

Amir Raeesian, the lawyer appealing for Toomaj Salehi, had the one-year prison sentence appeal rejected.

The lawyer for Toomaj Salehi has announced that the one-year prison sentence for this protesting rap singer has been finalized in the appellate court of Isfahan province.

Amir Raeesian, an attorney, told the ILNA news agency that our appeal against the initial one-year prison sentence was rejected in the 17th branch of Isfahan’s appellate court, and the sentence is now considered final.

He stated that although this sentence is legally final, we will still pursue other means of appeal, including requesting a retrial and applying Article 477.

This conviction pertains to a second case that was filed against Toomaj Salehi after his re-arrest in December of this year.

His first case, with charges of aiding in armed rebellion and conspiracy against the regime, and collusion to commit crimes against security, has been referred back by the Supreme Court for reconsideration and is currently being reviewed in the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan.

Toomaj Salehi was re-arrested with violence in the city of Babol on Thursday, December 9, 2023, shortly after being released from prison.
