Meeting of Amirabdollahian with the Russian Foreign Minister in Moscow
The Iranian Foreign Minister, who arrived in Russia yesterday, met with Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, today, Wednesday.
Mr. Amirabdollahian had stated before leaving Tehran that the cooperation between Iran and Russia is not a threat to any country.
Before this trip, the American newspaper Wall Street Journal had written that in response to Russia’s drone assistance, it provides technical assistance for cyber surveillance to Iran.
Iran says it has not provided military assistance to Russia in the Ukraine war and had given a number of drones to Russia before the war. The United States considers Iran the biggest military supporter of Russia in the war with Ukraine.
Relations between Tehran and Moscow have become closer, especially after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, and Iran has been able to finalize the purchase of Sukhoi 35 fighter jets from Russia.
After arriving in Moscow, the Iranian Foreign Minister said the doors are open for negotiations about the JCPOA.
The U.S. State Department has repeatedly emphasized that all options regarding Iran’s nuclear program are on the table, but the JCPOA is not among them.
