Amnesty International accuses the British Prime Minister of trying to downplay Israel’s human rights violations
Amnesty International has accused Rishi Sunak, the British Prime Minister, and Lisa Nandy, a senior opposition figure in the country’s parliament, of trying to downplay Israel’s human rights violations in the Gaza Strip.
The Director General of Amnesty International’s regional office in Britain, in a statement on this matter, emphasized that British politicians have attempted to downplay Israel’s actions in violating human rights by refusing to condemn Israel’s blatant violations of international laws, not explicitly addressing Israel’s restrictions on water and food in Gaza, which are a form of collective punishment and a war crime, and ignoring Israel’s request to evacuate northern Gaza, which amounts to forced displacement and relocation of residents.
Rishi Sunak and Lisa Nandy, the Shadow International Development Secretary and an opposition figure in the country’s parliament, have faced significant backlash for refusing to condemn the complete blockade of the Gaza Strip by Israel during their interviews.
