An Israeli soldier accused of spying for Iran
Israeli media reported on Thursday that a soldier from the country’s army has been charged with spying for Iran during the 12-day war with Tehran.
The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth announced that the Israeli soldier is accused of taking photos and videos of the interception of missiles fired by Iran and the areas where the missiles landed.
He appeared in a military court on Thursday, and after being charged, his detention was extended until next Tuesday.
Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency, stated in a release without mentioning the soldier’s name that he sent videos of Israeli missile systems and centers targeted by missile attacks during the 12-day war to Iranians.
According to the organization, the mentioned soldier did not send the gathered information during his duty in the Israeli Defense Forces and added that none of the information provided to Iran was classified.
Nevertheless, the Shin Bet statement says this is considered a very serious incident involving direct contact between an Israeli army soldier and foreign enemy elements.
