Anatolia Report on the Possibility of Iran's Participation in the Second Round of Talks in Islamabad

Anatolia’s report on the possibility of Iran’s participation in the second round of talks in Islamabad

While the American delegation is heading to Islamabad to participate in the second round of Iran-U.S. negotiations, reports indicate the possibility of the Iranian delegation’s presence in the capital of Pakistan on Tuesday, although Tehran has not yet announced its final decision on the matter.

The Anatolia news agency, citing two informed sources in Pakistan, has announced that Iran might be present in the second round of its talks with the United States in Islamabad. According to this report, the initial planning suggests that the Iranian delegation may arrive in the capital of Pakistan on Tuesday.

However, Tehran’s official stance remains undecided. Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized today that no decision has yet been made regarding participation in the new round of negotiations with the U.S.

On the other hand, the American delegation has been dispatched to Islamabad before the start of this round of talks. Pakistani sources cited by Anatolia have also said that Iran is expected to participate in the negotiations with a similar composition to the first round, a delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and included figures like Abbas Araghchi and Abdolnaser Hemmati.

Another part of this report states that the American side will also enter the negotiations with the same previous composition. Accordingly, J.D. Vance, the Vice President of the United States, leads the team, and Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump’s special envoy, along with Jared Kushner, are also present in this delegation.

Meanwhile, the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the U.S. is set to end on Wednesday, a matter that has added to the sensitivity of the upcoming negotiations.
