Anesthesiologist Crisis in Iranian Hospitals

The President of the Iranian Cardiac Anesthesia Society, pointing to the shortage of anesthesiologists in the country, said that in the past three years, there has been no interest in the field of anesthesia, and more than 70% of the anesthesia residency capacity has remained unfilled.

Currently, we are experiencing an anesthesiologist crisis in several hospitals in Tehran, which could have serious implications for the country’s health.

Unfortunately, the desire to emigrate is higher among anesthesiologists compared to other medical fields because this specialty holds a very special and high status in many countries worldwide, and it is also much higher than Iran in terms of social standing and income.
