Animal rights defenders say that a beluga whale has been shot dead.
Animal rights groups announced on Wednesday that the beluga whale, whose body was recently found on the shores of Norway, was killed by gunfire.
Previously, it was said that this whale, observed with a harness and camera installed on its back, was trained by Russia for espionage purposes.
On Wednesday, two organizations, NOAH and One Whale, which fight for animal rights, filed a complaint with the Norwegian police regarding this matter and called for a criminal investigation to find those responsible for the whale’s killing.
This beluga whale, suspected of being connected to Moscow and spying for Russia, was named Hvaldimir and was first spotted in 2019 in an area off the far northern coast of Norway as well as off the coast of Sweden.
International news agencies reported last Saturday that the body of this whale was found on the southwestern coast of Norway.
