Ansieh Khazali: The approach of the Women’s Security Bill is Quranic, not Feminist

Ansieh Khazali, the Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, mentioned that some people think the Women’s Security Bill is a feminist bill, and said,

“Sometimes, some people say that constantly mentioning women and wanting to legislate for them is a form of feminism and a special view towards women. They ask why women should be viewed specially.”

“However, this is not the case. This perspective is exactly Islamic and Quranic, and it is not that just because the bill is related to women, its view must be feminist.”

She referred to the educational approach in the Women’s Security Bill and said,

“Many aspects of the bill are educational, and often these trainings were exclusively for women. But now, men are also being specifically trained, and efforts are being made to ensure that these trainings and programs promote an Iranian and Islamic lifestyle.”
