Ansieh Khazali: The President Has Issued a Pardon for Students

Ansieh Khazali, the President, has issued an order to pardon students.

The Vice President for Women and Family Affairs in Ebrahim Raisi’s government announced on Saturday, February 18, the order to pardon protesting students.

Ansieh Khazali told the ILNA news agency regarding the suspension or expulsion sentences of protesting students that the President has issued a pardon for these individuals.

She expressed hope that university disciplinary committees would address this issue and considered the Minister of Science responsible for overseeing the implementation of Raisi’s order.

Critics say that this move, like the conditional pardon of political prisoners, is aimed at diverting attention from the news of university crackdowns.
