Ansieh Khazali, Vice President for Women and Family Affairs: The Women's Detention Center Was Like a Dormitory

Ansieh Khazali, Deputy for Women’s and Family Affairs, said the women’s prison was like a dormitory.

Ansieh Khazali, Deputy for Women’s and Family Affairs of the Presidency, said the women’s prison ward had suitable living and health conditions for the prisoners, and it resembled the dormitories of some universities in the country.

She mentioned that for the detainees, there was access to open air and outdoor spaces from morning until evening. Additionally, their letters and requests were received, and those seeking release on bail or conditionally would be followed up.

Recently, there have been reports of poor conditions for female political prisoners.

Previously, Atena Daemi, a human rights activist and former political prisoner, had reported in a series of tweets about the poor conditions of Ward 209 in Evin Prison, based on personal accounts.

Molavi Abdolhamid also recently tweeted that accounts confirm the abuse of female prisoners.
