Ansieh Khazali: We do not approve of certain jobs like women being motorcycle couriers.
Ansieh Khazali, the Vice President for Women’s Affairs, said the issue of women motorcycling and being motorcycle couriers should be reviewed legally. She added that we do not approve of certain jobs for women due to their potential harm.
In response to a question about women motorcycling and cycling, and the concerns of the Women’s and Family Affairs Office in tough economic conditions, Khazali explained that when asked, we need to have a logical answer for the people. On the day the Cabinet meeting was held, the issue of insurance for motorcyclists was raised. Additionally, some requests had come from women who were motorcycle couriers and wanted insurance. It was stated that since women motorcycling is legally prohibited, insurance is not possible in this case.
She continued, when a journalist asked about this, I responded that women motorcycling is legally prohibited, and to address this, it needs to be done through a bill or proposal in parliament.
The Vice President emphasized that the issue of women motorcycling is not at all a government matter, noting that this topic hasn’t even reached the stage of a bill or proposal, and the government has not taken any action on it. This is not a government issue but merely a question from a journalist that was answered. Regarding the job of motorcycle courier, we do not believe it is a good means of livelihood for women.
