Antonio Guterres: Earth’s vital signs are deteriorating
Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, once again warned about the consequences of climate change and called for fundamental actions to stop its threats on the second day of the COP 28 summit in Dubai.
He said that recent droughts and wildfires have shown that the Earth’s vital signs are deteriorating.
These statements were also echoed by King Charles III of the United Kingdom.
The annual United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 28, began yesterday hosted by the United Arab Emirates and is set to continue over the next two weeks in Dubai with the presence of some world leaders.
The King of the United Kingdom told the participants at this conference that climate change is no longer a distant threat.
He said that natural disasters have affected the lives of vulnerable people in small islands in many areas of India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, and they are witnessing unprecedented floods.
In another part of his speech, the King of the United Kingdom said that he has personally tried on several occasions to emphasize that rapid restoration and unique revival of nature are vital for human survival.
