Antonio Guterres warns that Middle East retaliation poses a risk, and it’s time for the Middle East to stop.

The UN Secretary-General wrote in a message on the X network on Friday that the cycle of retaliation in the Middle East poses a risk, and it’s time to stop it.

Antonio Guterres, in response to an attack attributed to Israel in Iran, called for preventing further escalation of the regional situation.

He wrote that the international community should work together to prevent any further deterioration of the situation, which could have devastating consequences for the entire region and beyond.

Mr. Guterres, following Iran’s missile and drone attack on Israel on Saturday night, also said that the region has reached the brink and must step back.

Israeli officials criticized Mr. Guterres, saying that he did not explicitly condemn Iran’s military attack on Israel.
