Anthony Blinken supports Netanyahu’s endorsement of the ceasefire proposal.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Tuesday, August 17, after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that Netanyahu assured him of Israel’s support for the US proposal to bridge the gaps in Gaza ceasefire negotiations.
He said in a very constructive meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, he confirmed that Israel accepts and supports the proposal to bridge the gaps, and now it is Hamas’s turn to do the same.
Blinken, who is scheduled to travel to Egypt and Qatar after Israel, said that Netanyahu’s government will send a delegation to continue negotiations in Cairo.
He also stated that he has asked the Israeli government to take action against settler violence.
Blinken further announced that Israel has agreed to a plan for polio vaccination in Gaza and that planning for its implementation will take place in the coming weeks.
