Apple changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America on its maps

On Tuesday, Apple changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America on its maps. This action was taken after U.S. President Donald Trump issued an order to change the name of this gulf, and the United States Board on Geographic Names approved it.

Earlier, on Sunday, Apple had announced that it had begun the process of changing the name of this gulf.

Based on this change, users in the United States will see the name Gulf of America on the map, but in Mexico, the name Gulf of Mexico will still be displayed. Users in other countries will see both names.

Google also announced last month that it would implement this change after the official update.

The company had previously stated that it would only implement changes if the U.S. government updated the official names in its geographic list. However, in recent days, this change has been implemented, and American users are seeing this gulf labeled as the Gulf of America on Google Maps.
