Approval of Public Transport Fare Increase in the Capital

The Deputy Urban Development Governor of Tehran announced the approval of new public transport fares for the coming year by the Tehran Governorate’s Compliance Board.

Saeed Bashiri explained the process of approving the 2024 public transport fares in the capital and the City Council’s resolution in the Tehran Governorate’s Compliance Board, stating that the public transport fares approved by the Islamic City Council of Tehran were reviewed and ultimately approved by the board.

He added that there were no issues with the figures since they were below the inflation rate, but there were a few legal points in the text of the resolution that were communicated to the Tehran City Council to address. Therefore, the figures for public transport fares approved by the Tehran City Council were confirmed by the Tehran Governorate’s Compliance Board.

The Deputy Urban Development Governor of Tehran emphasized that, as a result, for the coming year based on the Tehran City Council’s resolution, there will be a 28% increase in the metro sector, a 26% increase in the bus sector, and a 45% increase in the taxi sector.
