Araqchi: Grossi’s insistence on visiting bombed sites is meaningless
Abbas Araqchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, stated on Friday in a message on X that Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s request to visit the bombed nuclear sites of the Islamic Republic is meaningless and has malicious intent.
Araqchi wrote that the Islamic Republic’s parliament has voted to cease cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency until the safety and security of our nuclear activities are guaranteed.
He added that this decision is a direct result of Rafael Grossi’s regrettable role in concealing the fact that the agency had officially closed all past issues a decade ago.
With this biased action, he directly paved the way for the adoption of a politically motivated resolution against Iran in the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency and also facilitated the illegal attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran’s nuclear sites.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic wrote that Rafael Grossi, in addition, astonishingly and contrary to his professional duties, has refrained from explicitly condemning such blatant violations of the agency’s safeguard regulations and its statute.
The International Atomic Energy Agency and its Director General are fully responsible for this abhorrent situation.
Rafael Grossi’s insistence on visiting the bombed sites under the guise of safeguard monitoring is meaningless and may even have malicious intent.
Araqchi concluded by adding that the Islamic Republic reserves the right to take any necessary action in defense of its people’s interests and sovereignty.
