Araqchi: No negotiations are underway, we have not responded to the U.S. proposal
Iran’s Foreign Minister emphasized that exchanging messages with the U.S. does not mean negotiations
Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, announced that no negotiations with the U.S. are underway and Iran has not yet responded to Washington’s proposal
In an interview with Al Jazeera, he said that messages are being received from Steve Vitkoff, the U.S. Special Representative, but these messages only include warnings or mutual viewpoints and do not constitute negotiations
Araqchi stressed that these message exchanges are conducted through various regional channels and within a formal framework under the supervision of the government and the Supreme National Security Council
He also stated that Iran has not offered any proposals or conditions in response to the U.S.’s 15-point plan
The Foreign Minister of Iran further added that Tehran has not yet made a decision on the principle of negotiation and seeks a complete end to the war in the region, not just a ceasefire
Araqchi also claimed that Iran is prepared for any ground confrontation and regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, he said this route has been restricted for some countries but is not completely closed
