Araghchi: We Have Not Withdrawn from the NPT

Araqchi: We have not left the NPT

Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, emphasized that the Islamic Republic remains committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and that its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency will be organized solely through the Supreme National Security Council.

Mr. Araqchi responded to the position of the German Foreign Ministry, which had criticized the passing of a law mandating the government to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, warning that this suspension would eliminate any oversight of Iran’s nuclear program and the possibility of achieving a diplomatic solution.

Mr. Araqchi accused the German Foreign Ministry of fabricating news and stated that Iran remains committed to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Safeguards Agreement.
