Araqchi’s Warning in Turkey
Araqchi’s Warning in Turkey Seyed Abbas Araqchi, our country’s Foreign Minister, has a series of intensive regional trips in his schedule. During his interconnected consultations on regional issues, he arrived in Istanbul on the morning of Friday, October 19. Araqchi, during this trip aimed at participating in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the regional cooperation mechanism of the Caucasus known as 3+3, also met with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, and Ararat Mirzoyan, the Foreign Minister of Armenia.
The meeting with the Turkish President occurred within the framework of a collective meeting of the foreign ministers present at the summit with Erdogan. An official meeting between Araqchi and members of Hamas’s political council was also held. During the meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Araqchi warned about the regional situation and stated that the possibility of war in the region is a serious possibility and that no one in the region benefits from this situation except the Zionist regime.
During this trip, our Foreign Minister also reacted to recent statements by Biden. Joe Biden, the President of the United States, claimed yesterday that he is aware of the timing and manner of an Israeli attack on Iran. In response to this statement, Araqchi wrote on Twitter that anyone who has knowledge and awareness of the timing and manner of an Israeli attack on Iran or provides equipment and support for such folly will logically bear the responsibility for any potential damage.
Istanbul is one of the several destinations of the intensive trips of our country’s chief diplomat aimed at regional consultations. Before traveling to Turkey, Araqchi went to Cairo. After arriving in Cairo, Araqchi met and talked with Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President, and Badr Abdel Aty, the Foreign Minister of Egypt.
Before Cairo, the Foreign Minister had gone to Jordan and met with King Abdullah II and Ayman Safadi, the Foreign Minister of Jordan, in Amman. Araqchi had previously traveled to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman as well. Yesterday, in a joint press conference with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Araqchi said the possibility of war in the region remains a serious possibility and that no one in the region desires this situation except the Zionist regime.
In this meeting, Seyed Abbas Araqchi mentioned that after yesterday’s important negotiations within the 3+3 format regarding the Caucasus, he had bilateral talks with the President and the Foreign Minister of Turkey. He said yesterday we had the second Southern Caucasus meeting following the first one in Tehran, and it was successfully held.
Participants emphasized peace and stability in the Caucasus, considering peace as a manifestation of cooperation among regional countries, and expressed their opposition to the presence of extraregional forces. Combating terrorism is a mutual issue, ensuring border security, environmental issues, increasing cooperation in the energy sector, joint investment, strengthening banking and tourism connections, and the peaceful use of nuclear energy were among the topics discussed by both parties. The year 2025 has been designated as the cultural year for both parties, and we have diverse programs planned. We are confident that Iran and Turkey, as two countries with ancient cultures, can strengthen their ties.
The Foreign Minister added that we discussed regional issues, especially the continuation of the Zionist regime’s crimes and its approach to expanding war in the region, which is not accepted by any party in this region. Both countries believe that the genocide in Gaza and the crimes in Lebanon must be stopped immediately, and all Islamic countries should use all their capacities to stop Israel.
The region has become a powder keg, which can pose a serious threat to the world, and the possibility of war remains serious, and no one other than the Zionist regime desires this issue, but we are prepared for any scenario.
