Araqchi: We Will Respond Firmly to the Strategic Mistake of European Countries

Araqchi: We will respond decisively to the strategic error of European countries

Abbas Araqchi, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Wednesday, June 10, issued a strong message accusing the European parties of the JCPOA of negligence and inability to implement the agreement, warning once again that if a resolution is passed regarding Iran’s non-compliance with non-proliferation commitments, the UK, France, and Germany will bear the consequences.

In this message published on X, Araqchi wrote that the three European countries have had seven years to fulfill their commitments under the JCPOA.

However, either deliberately or due to incapacity, they have completely failed to do so.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, on the eve of the proposed resolution by the US and the three European members of the JCPOA to the IAEA Board of Governors, added that instead of expressing regret or a desire to facilitate diplomacy, the Europeans are taking a completely opposite path and absurdly demanding Iran’s punishment simply because Iran has exercised its legal right within the framework of the JCPOA to respond to the non-implementation of commitments by the other side.

Repeating the warning of a negative reaction from the Islamic Republic to the passing of the resolution, Araqchi added that if the three European countries make another strategic mistake, Iran will show a decisive and serious reaction.

And the full responsibility for this outcome will directly lie with the malevolent actors whose actions even destroy their own credibility.

On Tuesday evening, June 9, Agence France-Presse reported that a draft resolution proposed by the three European countries with US support had been submitted to the Board of Governors.

If this resolution is passed, Iran will, for the first time in two decades, be condemned for violating its obligations under the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
