Arrest of 4 educational union activists in Nowshahr and Tehran by security forces

On Thursday, May 3rd, teachers and educators held protest gatherings in 10 cities across Iran, including Tehran, Hersin, Eslamabad Gharb, Aligudarz, Marivan, Saghez, Khomeinishahr, Qazvin, Rasht, and Yasuj, to mark Teacher’s Day.

In this context, the Coordinating Council of Educational Unions reported the arrest of four individuals at the teachers’ gathering in Tehran, with one of them still being detained.

According to this council, Mehdi Ghaderi, Mehdi Farahi Shandiz, Vahid Mousavi Dehsari, and Davood Bayesteh were arrested with violence by security forces, and Mehdi Farahi Shandiz is still in detention.

In their nationwide gatherings, educators protested against the suppression and threats towards teachers, demanding the release of all imprisoned educators in the country, free education for all, and the elimination of any form of gender discrimination.
