Arrest of a person for making a ‘Free Hugs’ clip in Gorgan

The public prosecutor of Golestan says a person in the city of Gorgan has been arrested for making unconventional clips in the Alangdareh Forest Park.

Mahmoud Espanloo, the public prosecutor of Golestan’s center, told reporters on Friday night that one of the social media bloggers in Gorgan, who had made a clip on the topic of ‘Free Hugs’ and published it online, was identified and arrested.

In recent months, an increasing number of women in Iran have been appearing in public without the headscarf and clothing mandated by the government, sharing their images on social media.

Previously, Ahmadreza Radan, the chief commander of Iran’s law enforcement, issued a threatening warning to citizens, stating that from Saturday, April 15, individuals who do not comply with the government-imposed dress code will be identified and referred to the judiciary.
