Arrest of an Iranian Accused of Setting Fire to Embassy in Paris
French police have arrested an Iranian man accused of setting fire to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Paris three days ago.
On Tuesday, September 12, the French news agency reported, citing a knowledgeable source, that the suspect is an Iranian citizen born in 1984.
This source stated that the accused was arrested on September 11 and must appear before a judge for a swift trial on Wednesday.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic in France was attacked early on September 9, during which the entrance to the consular section of the embassy was set on fire.
Hours after the news of this attack was released, the state news agency IRNA, quoting a spokesperson for the Iranian embassy in Paris, reported that the situation at the embassy is under control and the perpetrators of the attack are being pursued.
Based on the statements of the advisor to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic, the news agency described the perpetrators of this attack as unknown individuals but attributed them to hostile and anti-revolutionary groups.
