Arrest of Four Hackers in South Korea Accused of Breaching 120,000 Home Cameras

Arrest of four hackers in South Korea for infiltrating 120,000 home cameras

Four individuals in South Korea have been arrested on charges of hacking into over 120,000 cameras in homes and businesses and using the footage to produce sexually exploitative videos.

South Korean police, announcing the arrest of these four individuals, stated that the suspects exploited vulnerabilities in home cameras, such as having simple passwords.

IP cameras, also known as home cameras, are a cheaper alternative to CCTV cameras. They connect to the home internet and are often installed for security or to monitor children and pets.

According to reports, the locations where the cameras were hacked in South Korea included private homes, karaoke rooms, a Pilates club, and an obstetrics and gynecology clinic.
