Arrest of Pirates in Military Uniforms in the Persian Gulf

The Border Police Commander of Hormozgan Province announced on Friday, December 29, the arrest of two pirates in military uniforms and armed near Larak Island, close to Qeshm County.

Bahador Esmaeili stated that these two individuals were repeat offenders and were stealing plastic containers known as ‘snake bags’ in the sea.

According to the Border Police Commander of Hormozgan Province, a marine patrol group near Larak Island noticed suspicious movements of a boat, and upon inspection, they discovered a handheld radio, two Kalashnikov rifles with two magazines containing 56 bullets, and a handgun with five bullets.

Larak Island is one of the islands of Hormozgan Province and the fourth largest island in Iran, located southeast of Qeshm Island and southwest of Hormuz Island.
