Arrest of Two Female Students in Sanandaj

Human rights sources report continued security pressures on academics

According to Hengaw, an independent human rights watchdog in Kurdistan, two female students from the Sanandaj Technical College were abducted by security forces on Tuesday, January 10th, and taken to an unknown location.

This human rights source has identified the two detained students as Asouyeh Moradi from Salas-e Babajani and Fatemeh Moradi from Ilam.

Since the start of the nationwide and anti-government protests in 2022 in Iran, universities have been one of the main centers of these protests, and as a result, academics have faced severe security pressures.
