Arrest of Two People in Hong Kong for Possession of Books

Two people arrested in Hong Kong for possessing a book

They appear to be the first individuals to be arrested for possessing the book ‘Saving the Sheep from the Wolf Pack’ after the publishers were imprisoned last year.

Hong Kong authorities interpreted these books, which are about sheep trying to keep wolves away from their village, as a reference to Hongkongers and the Chinese government.

Hong Kong media reported that police arrested these 38 and 50-year-old individuals in their apartments on March 13. The police raided their homes and seized multiple copies of the books. Both individuals have been released on bail for now but must report to the police next month.

These arrests are carried out under Hong Kong’s security law.

According to this law, any action in Hong Kong that undermines sovereignty or endangers China’s security, including promoting against the government of that country, is subject to legal action.
