Arsam Mahmoudi was sentenced to 5 years in prison

Reports from Iran indicate that political activist Arsam Mahmoudi has been sentenced to five years of imprisonment.

Arsam Mahmoudi, born in 1991, who holds a master’s degree in civil engineering, was arrested in December 2022 during nationwide protests in Tehran.

In Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, he was sentenced to five years in prison for the charges of assembly and collusion and propaganda against the regime, and to one year for propaganda against the regime. According to Article 134, he must serve five years of this sentence.

Mr. Mahmoudi, described as a constitutionalist political activist, is awaiting the decision of the appeals court.
