Ashkan Khatibi, an Iranian cinema actor, wrote on his Instagram post about what has happened to him over the past ninety days. Mr. Khatibi wrote that he has been living in fear and secrecy for ninety days, and during this time, he has had a stroke.
Mr. Khatibi described his situation on Instagram as follows: ‘For ninety days, I have been living in fear and secrecy. On the first of Mehr, I was charged for my accusations with verbal and physical violence from the interrogators and referred to a judge. After that, I was interrogated and subjected to ideological questioning for several more hours by others. Under the pretext of insulting sacred beliefs, I was physically attacked by plainclothes agents on the street and repeatedly threatened with death over the phone, to the extent that I gave up my phone line. I gave up my life, my work, and everything I had built. During this time, I had a stroke and every day I suffer from anxiety attacks recalling what they did to me. I didn’t say these things to lament my misfortunes. I am still alive, but the most beautiful and courageous people of Iran are being executed or killed on the streets every day and night.’
