The Asian Football Confederation prohibits displaying political and religious images
The Asian Football Confederation once again warned clubs participating in Asian competitions to refrain from displaying images of political and religious figures in stadiums hosting the matches, as AFC will fine and penalize the respective club if such images are shown.
Badr Al-Otaibi, a Saudi journalist close to the AFC, wrote on his social media page regarding this matter that the Asian Football Confederation and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) have banned such actions and punish any violations. The latest incident was a fine imposed on Iran’s Sepahan team last season when they displayed images of political figures before their match against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad in the stadium.
Esteghlal and Persepolis football teams represent Iran in the Asian Elite League, while Tractor and Sepahan represent Iran in the AFC Champions League 2. So far, each of them has played one match in the new Asian season, with Esteghlal and Tractor defeating their opponents, while Persepolis and Sepahan were defeated by their rivals.
