Australian Ambassador Summoned to Iran's Foreign Ministry

The Australian ambassador was summoned to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On Sunday, October 7, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran summoned Ian McConville, the Australian ambassador in Tehran. According to ISNA news agency, the reason for his summoning was the Islamic Republic’s protest against Australia’s repeated biased positions contrary to international law regarding recent regional developments.

According to the Director General of Asia and Oceania at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Australia’s double standards towards regional developments and its silence on Israel’s attacks on Gaza and Lebanon were condemned.

This summoning occurred after Anthony Albanese, the Prime Minister of Australia, condemned Iran’s missile attack on Israel and emphasized Israel’s right to self-defense a day after the attack.

In its second direct military attack on Israel on October 2, 2024, the Islamic Republic of Iran targeted the country with 181 ballistic missiles.
