The Canadian Journalists for Free Expression awarded their prize to Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi. Both journalists have spent over 100 days in prison for reporting on Mahsa Amini.

The death of Mahsa Zhina Amini, a girl from Saqqez, led to widespread protests that have continued for over 150 days.

According to a report by Hrana, affiliated with the Human Rights Activists in Iran, from September 17 to February 15, more than 19,700 protesters have been arrested, 71 children have been killed, and 180 other children have been detained.
