Axios reports Cuba has purchased hundreds of drones from Iran and Russia

The Axios website, citing confidential U.S. information, reported that since 2023, Cuba has purchased over 300 military drones from Iran and Russia, and the country’s military officials have discussed possible attack scenarios on the Guantanamo base, American vessels, and even Key West, Florida.

According to this report, U.S. officials believe Cuba does not currently pose an immediate threat, but discussions have taken place about the use of drones should tensions with the U.S. escalate.

Axios also reported that John Ratcliffe, the CIA Director, traveled to Havana on Thursday and warned Cuban officials against any hostile actions.

The report states that Washington’s concern over Iran’s role in developing Cuba’s drone capabilities has increased following Tehran’s extensive use of drones in the recent war.
