Jalal Rashidi Koochee: The Morality Police Has Brought Nothing but Harm to the Country

Jalal Rashidi Koocheh: The morality police have brought nothing but harm to the country.

Jalal Rashidi Koocheh, representative of the people of Marvdasht in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, spoke to ISNA about the dimensions of Mahsa Amini’s death and the performance of the morality police over the past years.

Friends must accept that the morality police were a mistake because they have brought nothing but loss and harm to the country. This does not require statistics or surveys. If the morality police alone were supposed to succeed in the matter of hijab, at the very least, our situation in the field of hijab should have remained stable compared to 10 years ago.

Friends argue that if we say today that the morality police have been disbanded, people will come to the streets naked. I want to cry over this discussion. They have turned a simple cultural issue into a crisis that costs the system. I raised this point in the first session held to examine the dimensions of Mahsa Amini’s case, but the gentlemen were upset. With these behaviors, we are turning people away from religion.
