Snowden becomes a Russian citizen
By decree of Vladimir Putin, Edward Snowden, the American whistleblower who had taken refuge in Russia, has received Russian citizenship after years of his status being in limbo. This decree is essentially a poke in the eye of America by Putin.
Snowden, who during the Obama years and amidst the intensifying conflict between Russia and the United States, exposed the security activities of the National Security Agency, became a hero to many civil activists.
He was actually responsible for revealing numerous security forces, creating many difficulties for America in its fight against terrorism, and significantly aiding Putin’s position in his confrontation with America.
