Sardar Azmoun will make it to the World Cup

Sardar Azmoun’s injury is the biggest concern for Iranian football at the moment and ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

On October 4, Sardar Azmoun, a star of the Iranian national team, suffered a calf muscle tear while warming up during his team’s Champions League match against Porto. Initial reports indicated that he would be sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks, potentially diminishing hopes for his participation in the Qatar World Cup.

Dr. Naser Heidari took a closer look at Sardar Azmoun’s injury and emphasized that the Bayer Leverkusen star will make it to the World Cup. This specialist doctor said:

The triceps surae refers to a group of three muscles along the back of the calf. The gastrocnemius muscle, due to the high forces and rapid changes in length and muscle contraction, is at the greatest risk of injury. These muscles converge to form the Achilles tendon. These muscles can be seen as a large piece of rope made up of multiple fibers. I believe that up to the second degree, his gastrocnemius muscle is intact, meaning essentially a minor tear of only some of the fibers forming this rope. He only needs to be away from play for 3 to 4 weeks and will be ready for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
