Israel and Russia have thwarted Iran’s assets in Syria

Amidst the electoral battles in Israel, the country’s military officials spent the weekend sharing news and celebrating the army’s success in eliminating 90% of Iranian capabilities and facilities in Syria.

In recent years, Israel has engaged in serious and extensive coordination with the Russians to plan attacks on Iranian forces, Iranian facilities, and the routes for transferring Iranian forces and equipment. This coordination reached a point of maximum interaction at a certain period. Yair Lapid, the current Prime Minister of Israel, officially stated during his tenure as Foreign Minister that it is Russia, not Syria or the government of Bashar al-Assad, that is the neighbor of the occupied territories.

In the past two years, Russia has effectively compelled Bashar al-Assad to comply with its policy of cooperating with the Israelis. Israel’s assessment of this process is that Bashar al-Assad has shown maximum obedience to the Russians, which has led to the serious restriction of Iranian activities in Syria by the Syrian President. After reversing its invasion flow in Ukraine and facing pressure on its forces there, Russia transferred many of its important systems and forces from Syria to Ukraine, including the transfer of the S300 system, which was a significant development and a serious warning for Iran that seemingly went unnoticed.
